Slim’s, Bold Street’s New York Style diner has been shortlisted in the National Burger Awards.
The restaurant, which opened in August 2019, has already made waves in the hospitality industry, bagging the national nomination for its signature Double Cheeseburger that’s packed with a handmade double beef burger topped with cheese on a seeded brioche bun, lettuce, house pickles and Slim’s special burger sauce.
The burger is one of 16 to be recognised in the National Burger Awards and Slim’s Head Chef Jake Humphrey will now battle it out on Wednesday 19 February in London alongside 15 other establishments from across the UK to be crowned the best burger of the year and win a whopping £1,000!
The live cook-off will see each chef put to the test across three rounds, where against a strict time limit, they’ll have to produce the signature burger that was chosen for the final, as well as a ‘technical’ burger made from ingredients from the competition sponsors plus as a vegan burger.
The burgers will be judged by a panel of industry experts including the National Burger Awards 2019 winner Nick Watkins of El Perro Negro.
Jake said: “I’m really excited to represent Slim’s and Liverpool when I head to London in February. I’ll be taking part in a national competition and hope I can bring back the award for best burger! No matter the outcome on the day, we’re all honoured to have been recognised in such a prestigious award.”
