Indigo Greens, in Duke Street Market, scoops national award for Best Vegan Restaurant

A Liverpool vegan restaurant has scooped a national Veg Fest award for Best Vegan Restaurant.

Indigo Greens, which has a restaurant on Queens Drive and is one of the six kitchens at Duke Street Market, was up for Best Vegan Restaurant in the UK and was the only Liverpool restaurant to be recognised in the awards.

The fully plant-based restaurant was founded by couple Patti Bullock and Mark Aston who are both from Liverpool.

After going vegan, the duo found it difficult to dine out on quality plan-based dishes and with Patti’s chef background, created their own impressive menu.

Now, Indigo Greens is a favourite amongst fellow vegans and carnivores alike, who want to cut down on their meat intake or simply mix up their meals.

Favourites from their menu include the Full Indigo Grill; a vegan full English breakfast, the Rainbow Roast, Scouse and it’s vegan Vish N Chips – beer battered banana blossom, sweet potato wedges, minted mushy peas and fruity curry sauce.

Indigo Greens will battle it out alongside Brighton and Camden vegan pizzeria Purezza, London-based Rudy’s Dirty Vegan Diner, Camden’s Temple of Seitan, Glasgow-based Hug and Pint, V Rev Vegan Diner in Manchester, Bristol’s Koocha Mezze Bar, Sheffield-based Make No Bones at Church, Norwich’s Erpingham House and Atma in Cardiff.

Owner and chef Patti said: “We’re absolutely ecstatic to have won Best Vegan Restaurant in the national Veg Fest awards. It’s an honour to be acknowledged alongside some other really popular plant-based eateries.”

Co-owner Mark added: “We worked really hard at Indigo Greens to deliver on quality, flavour and service and we’re so grateful to all of our guests who have supported us and continue to do so by visiting our restaurant and kitchen at Duke Street Market.”
